IT Architect (Edinburgh, UK)
For our Client, one of Europe’s leading flight search engines, offering a flexible, fast and independent solution to finding flights on the web, we are looking for a candidates on a position of:
IT Architect (Edinburgh, UK)
Your role will be to determine the solutions and plans for a number of strategic technical and architectural issues for the further development of vertical flight search. Architectural due diligence & sign-off of technical specs so that ongoing development fits to our strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Provide architecture design, as well as coordinate database, web and indexing architecture plans, planning for risk and growth
- Determine company choice of single python, C# or mixed programming languages
- Determine company choice of single relational database or BigTable or mixed data storage platform
- Build on current work to translate the modelling of scheduled airline prices (cf. GDS’) into an extremely efficient model for our data storage platform
- Determine and set realistic goals for Visitors/Server/Day and website capacity planning
- Mentor development teams to support and participate in technical plans and decisions
Wymagania:
If you have:
- Demonstrated ability to architect web-based services that meet consumer needs or solve business problems
- Experience managing web application development and knowledge of web standards
- Experience with startup companies
- Ability to choose pragmatic solutions that maximise utility to our user base over architectural purity
- Hands-on experience coding in more than one currently popular web application framework
- Ability to discern user requirements and develop specifications
- Skill with CSS, XHTML, one or more Javascript frameworks, and AJAX
- Experience with Microsoft and UNIX system administration and web server configuration
- Knowledge of Internet protocols, database management systems
- Familiarity with technical requirements of Internet marketing and search engine optimization
