We are the first and only Microsoft development center in Poland and we aim to build a center of engineering excellence in Poland by recruiting talent both inside and outside Microsoft.
Ciao (www.ciao.co.uk) is Europe’s leading provider of shopping and consumer review websites. We joined the Microsoft Online Services Division (OSD) through an acquisition in October 2008. Today the Ciao Commerce division operates shopping platforms in seven countries and languages in Europe. The product tracks 6 million products, 37 million merchant offers and more than 5 million independent product reviews and opinions in over 20 top categories, such as cars, computers, digital cameras, finances, mobile phones, travel, electronics, and foodstuffs.
Our team is responsible for the end-to-end development of the advanced back-end and front-end technologies driving the European Commerce search experience. This includes the merchant offer integration system integrating more than 3 million online merchants, the product catalog synthesis pipelines, as well as a sophisticated community platform for more than one million members. We are a very fast-paced team and employ agile development methodologies and processes including Scrum and provide offer opportunities for strong developers to work on a wide range of scalable web technologies.
We are searching for talented Software Development Engineers to help us develop the next generation of these products and backend systems, who will also be able to coach the team as we move from the Open Source technology to the Microsoft .NET stack, where necessary. We are looking for self-motivated and passionate individuals who are interested in learning at a very fast pace.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop new features for our high-volume consumer web sites,
- Build sophisticated in-house user applications automating data management processes,
- Take responsibility for your own development through planning, estimating, implementing, testing, and documenting your feature work.
For our open positions we are looking for people with:
- Solid software development and engineering experience with strong design, coding and debugging skills in C# and ASP.NET, as well as open source experience ideally in PHP or similar
- Experience with creating high volume and high availability web platforms
- Good knowledge of XHTML, CSS, Java Script and AJAX
- Experience with database application design, SQL and stored procedures
- Knowledge of Microsoft technologies to support migration efforts
- A University degree in computer science or comparable education or experience
- Strong software development and engineering expertise
Ideally the candidate will have a broad online technology background including Open Source web technologies like object-oriented PHP programming, Soap/XML & JSON parsing, Bash/Shell programming and basic knowledge of Linux, BSD or UNIX. Most importantly, we are looking for people with a positive "can do" attitude, the ability to work well with a team, and the ability to get things done.
