Bioinformatics research associate (grid computing, pipelines, microbiome)
Looking for a programmer passionate about science. We work on computational methods to better understand the microbiome from metagenomic data. Help build pipelines to understand protein structure and function within microbial metagenomes and collaborate with IBM, Broad Institute, University of California San Diego and Flatiron Institute.
Your role would be to build and maintain a consistent and extensible computational framework and database for structural and functional annotation of microbial genomes, and metagenomes. We work primarily in Python and PostgreSQL and despite being academics, follow test-driven development! Because we are an academic institution, depending on your interests the role may evolve into dealing with a variety of computational and scientific problems.
