DevOps Engineer
DevOps Engineer
For a challenging role in our Team Development we are looking for a DevOps Engineer
As a DevOps Engineer at our company, your heart beats faster when you automate and configure. You feel completely at home in a hosting infrastructure consisting of virtual machines on Ubuntu Server LTS, managed by Puppet/Ansible/Salt/Chef or the like (choice has not yet been made). You know how to roll out a major version migration of web applications. You enjoy programming scripts because you believe that it is better to automate than to document. You think along with us about how we should manage our infrastructure now and in the future.
We currently use dedicated/managed hosting. But that will certainly shift to the cloud in the near future. You help us to draw up and implement a plan for this.
You ensure that our existing platforms continue to run smoothly. The solutions we host are often essential for the services provided by our clients and our parent company Flexpedia. We unburden them – and ourselves – by carrying out proactive maintenance. In practice, this results in smoothly operating solutions with virtually no downtime. Within the DevOps team, you contribute to strategic choices, both for the short and the long term, that relate to the implementation and (further) development of our services.
You take on many tasks independently, but you must also be able to work in a team. With your team, you bear the responsibility to keep our entire digital infrastructure secure, stable and up-to-date. You arrange backups, logs and other reporting, and ensure that everything is neatly documented. In addition, you support the development team with building and deploying their applications.
What important is:
You understand that development and operations go hand in hand
Continuous integration (CI), delivery & deployments (CD) excites you and you are not afraid of the terminal (Bash, Zsh)
You have affinity with .NET, NodeJS, and/or PHP
Pre: you have knowledge or want to learn more about:
cloud computing (Azure/AWS)
containers (Dapr, Docker, AWS ECS)
security and monitoring (ELK, Datadog, CloudWatch)
This is what we ask of you:
You take responsibility for a properly functioning hosting and network environment (Ubuntu Server LTS & Puppet/Ansible/Salt/Chef)
You provide and streamline backups of all important data
You ensure up-to-date security & redundancy of all important systems
You arrange security testing and patching
You install and maintain (cloud) servers
You automate and document the work
You monitor performance and load and adjust and escalate where necessary
You think about the future of Paydia's services (we are always open to ideas)
You have at least 2 years of work experience and you know what you are talking about
You live in the Amsterdam/Haarlem/Alkmaar area, when living abroad (within Europe/EER) willing to move towards the Netherlands (we can assist you with finding accommodation, we don’t offer sponsorships)
You master the English language verbally and in writing. The working language in the development team is English because of its international character
You are familiar with the different parts that make up a hosting platform, such as:
Proxies
load balancers
web servers
Databases (SQL & NoSQL)
Package tools (NuGet, Composer, NPM)
DNS
firewalls
SSL
VCS (Git, but knowledge of Subversion or Perforce is also good)
This is what we offer you:
Salary between €3000 and €4000 gross per month
Full time employment (40 hours)
25 vacation days, 8% vacation pay
5% End-of-year bonus for achieving sales target
BrandNewDay pension plan
Travel allowance from 10 km away from home to work
Beautiful workplace in a striking building on the Spaarne in Haarlem
