Monitoring Tooling Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing consultancy and SME level support to tools within the Digital Monitoring Team’s service catalogue (primarily on AppDynamics, Splunk and DataDog)
- Maintaining Splunk configuration files and application Infrastructure via Terraform code
- Responsible for onboarding new data sources into Splunk both on-premise and AWS
- Responsible for onboarding new applications into our regional AppDynamics instances
- Analysing data for anomalies and trends
- Building dashboards highlighting the key trends of the data
- Build robust alerting solutions for our Internal customers
- Design and Develop automation via Shell / Python scripting / Ansible playbooks to install, configure, and maintain tools
Our Splunk environment consists of heavy forwarders, indexers, and search head servers, spanning security, performance, and operational roles. Given strategic goals to migrate services to AWS the candidate will support the full system engineering life-cycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, test, documentation, implementation following defined best practices and operational workflows for both on-premise and AWS infrastructure.
The candidate will be required to interact with end users to gather requirements to on-board new data sources into all relevant monitoring tools, analysing the application & configuration data for anomalies / trends, building dashboards and general support enquiries. The candidate should be familiar with a Linux environment and ideally (not essential) editing and maintaining Splunk configuration files and applications.
